I have had a few people comment on my Lowell Jan header image and how I "made" it. There really wasn't any "making" to it (like Photoshopping 2 images together, that sort of thing). I have included the original picture below
Basically, all I had to do was get a tight crop on it to eliminate the "i", the clouds and the bricks. Then I used a cool colorization preset on the image. I did all of this in my photo processing software and viola!
I primarily use Adobe Lightroom 3
for all my imaging needs. I do own Photoshop CS5
, but I find it cumbersome and quite frankly, overwhelming to use. Lightroom does everything I need from cropping, upsizing, converting to black and white, cataloging, and fixing red-eye, etc.
When I originally took this photo, I just thought it was neat because I have had a few nicknames in the past and "Jani" was one of them. But once I got home and looked at it, I thought it was perfect for my photoblog that was yet to be started. "Seeing The Outside In" was always going to be the name of the blog because it meant something to me philosophically as an artist. This image just enhanced the title and took a bit of the seriousness out of it. Which is fine with me. Who says you can't have fun with your passions?!
